Horton Family 2023By God’s grace, I grew up in a home with Christian parents who pointed me toward Christ. The first time I remember hearing of how my sin caused God to be at war with me, I understood my guilt and repented. It truly is a blessing that God’s grace saved me at a young age, and is just a reminder to me that it is only by grace through faith that we are saved, which is a gift.

As God worked on my heart, I desired to serve the Lord in ministry. As I grew, I believed that God was calling me to the foreign missions field. I studied engineering in college, hoping it would someday open a door for missions. After college, God led me to The Master’s Seminary to become equipped for ministry. While at seminary I fell in love with my beautiful wife Amy, and knew she was the perfect partner for a lifetime of overseas ministry.

By October 2010, our bags were packed, our funds were raised, and our hearts were ready for a lifetime of missions work in the Arab World. However, God’s plan for us was not overseas, but in Hutchinson. As God closed the door to overseas ministry, we had more questions than answers. Amy and I knew that we loved the church, and God sovereignly placed us in Hutchinson to love and serve the church here.

What a blessing to know we are where God wants us to be, doing what God wants us to do! I have had the privilege to serve on the staff of Grace Bible Church since 2011. In 2016, I was called to be the Lead Pastor at Grace Bible Church, after one of my best friends and previous Senior Pastor, Rick Goertzen, moved to Hoover, Alabama.

My family and I love Grace Bible Church. We live Grace Bible Church. It’s what we do because it’s what we love. It is humbling for me to be able to serve alongside so many who care so deeply for the glory of Christ and the purity of His bride in a church committed to simply being faithful to what God has called her to do. It is my prayer that God would use His Word to keep us pointed at His glory as we serve our Savior by proclaiming His precious message.

Pastor Bart graduated from Pittsburg State University in 2004 with a Bachelors in Construction Engineering Technology hoping to use this skill on the mission field. He graduated in May of 2009 with a Masters of Divinity from The Master's Seminary. He also received his Doctor of Ministry from The Master's Seminary in 2022.
