Drouhard Family Photo-18

I grew up in a Catholic believing home. After graduating from high school, I moved away to go to college and later started my working career in broadcasting.

In 1982, my job took my family and me to Wichita where I also regularly attended the Catholic Church. One evening I heard a priest say that if a person doesn’t keep the 10 commandments, he would go to hell.  I knew I not only couldn’t keep the commandments, I knew I hadn’t kept them.

That was the start of the Lord drawing me to salvation (John 6:44). Shortly after, I was shown Scriptures from family and friends who pointed me to sin (Rom 3:23), the sinner’s position before God, (Rom 6:23), that good works was of no value to the Lord (Eph 2:8-9; 2 Tim 1:9; Phil 3:8-9) and the way of salvation through Jesus (John 14:6; John 3:15-18).  From that, God saved me in 1983.

When my career took us back to Hutchinson, we began attending a Bible church that lasted 11 years. Then in 1995, we started attending Grace Bible Church where through the years we've been taught the Scriptures, loved by others and experienced the wonderful grace of God.

My motive to shepherd is simple, 'I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, deeds which are to be praised according to all the Lord has done for us' (Is. 63:7).  Since He has been so kind in saving me, I want to tell others of that kindness and of His glory! In the opportunity the Lord has given me to care for others, I hope to express and encourage them with the truths of scripture that declare God as 'great, mighty and awesome' (Deut 10:17).  It's a privilege to shepherd at GBC.
