I consider it a blessing that I grew up in a Christian home where my parents not only professed to know Christ but that the Word of God was lived out in their lives. They taught me the gospel. At a young age the Holy Spirit drew me to Himself and He used the Word of God to convict me of my sin. I understood that I was a sinner and that Christ had paid my sin debt by His substitutionary death on the cross. And that through the shedding of His blood on my behalf there was forgiveness offered to me for my sin. I only had to believe this by faith. There is nothing that I can boast in but Christ, because my salvation is only by the grace of God.

I grew up in music ministry. My family traveled and sang bluegrass gospel music in churches across the country. I grew up loving music and have always loved being in the church and serving the body of Christ. I knew as I went through high school that I wanted to be in full time ministry in the local church in some capacity. After high school I went to Bible College for two years where I met my lovely wife Julie. We were married in 2004 and moved to the Hutchinson, Kansas area and began to raise our family. In the summer of 2005 God brought us to Grace Bible Church and it wasn’t long before we were involved as lay people in the church and I was able to use the gift of music to serve the people here. In 2013 we began to pursue the desire that God had placed in our hearts to be in full time ministry in the local church here in Hutchinson. And I am thankful to serve on staff as the pastor of music and pastoral care and to serve alongside other men who care deeply for the bride of Christ and desire for her to be without spot or blemish.

It is my desire as we worship God through music that we would sing songs that teach us the truth and that we would sing from within our spirit with the right heart attitude, because this is what God seeks in His worshipers. When Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman in John 4 He told her that the Father was seeking worshipers who would worship Him in spirit and in truth. He then says in verse 24, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
